NTP, Summary for Listing or Delisting in 9th RC
In May 2000, the NTP released the 9th edition of its Report on Carcinogens and announced that sacch been delisted. The final decision was based on the recommendation of NTP Director Dr. Kenneth Olden, and endorsed by the then U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Donna Shalala. The NTP report was submitted to Congress.

2000년 5월, 미국 독성학 프로그램(NTP)은 발암 물질에 관한 9번째 보고서를 통하여 사카린을 발암 물질 항목에서 제외한다고 발표하였다. 최종 결정은 NTP 이사인 DR. Kenneth Olden의 제의와 보건복지부 장관 Donna Shalala의 서명으로 이루어 졌다. NTP 보고서는 의회에 제출되었다

Calorie Control Council (CCC) submitted petition requesting the NTP review and delist saccharin on the basis of the extensive data from research supporting the safety of saccharin for human consumption. RG1 voted 7/3 to delist from the Report on Carcinogens RG2 voted 6/2 to delist from the Report on Carcinogens The Subcommittee recommended (4 yes votes to 3 no votes) not delisting from the Report, and leaving saccharin listed as reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen
